Top 10 tools for Young Learners

Read a great article today from THE Journal referencing Gail Lovely and listing her top 10 Web 2.0 Tools for Young Learners.  Gail promoted the idea of the youngest learners needing some of the best technology since they are the ones establishing a foundation for learning in the 21st century.  This is something I have advocated for since discovering the power of online collaboration and learning.  She says that it was the recognition of these needs that led her to establish a "top 10 list" of tools for use with these youngsters.  Gail, in true collaborative fashion, has placed her list in a wiki and asks for our input.

I was pleased to see that many of them have appeared in previous posts at SharonsShare as well as in my k12Online presentation this year.  Here are her top 10.
1.  Kerpoof   http://kerpoof.com     Interactive creative tool to create movies, scenes and more
2. Voki   http://www.voki.com      Talking avatar
3. Create a Graph    Makes data and graphing easy to demonstrate and create
4. YackPack   Voice-driven device to place on a website (private or public)
5. Animoto - ease of use and focus on images and order rather than on editing
6. Skype - connect to the world
7. Glogster - interactive posters *****  One of my favorites today - just blogged it last week  *******
8. Voicethread - voice, writing, images, video  ** recommended and used by my staff at all levels **
9. Blogs - even the youngest can blog!
10.  Wikis - everyones favorite collaboration tool

Gail has examples and more are being added daily.
I just learned about Joggle and Read the Words (this is my next post!)
